Imprint  :  Oxon  :  Routledge , 2017

Mukasurat : 159 ms

Topics covered include:

  • where and how energy is used in buildings
  • energy audits
  • measuring and monitoring energy use
  • techniques for reducing energy use in buildings
  • legislative issues.

And new in this edition:

It provides a template for instigating the energy-management process within an organization, as well as guidance on management issues such as employee motivation, and gives practical details on how to carry the process through. This book should appeal to building and facilities managers and also to students of energy management modules in FE and HE courses.

2Atmospheric Aerosol Properties: Formation, Processes and Impacts

atmospheric aerosol

Pengarang : Jose Ignacio

Imprint  : London :  AURIS , 2018

Mukasurat : 303 ms

Sinopsis:

An increasing interest in studies of atmospheric aerosols in the context of their impact on the formation of climate, heterogeneous chemical reactions in the atmosphere affecting in particular the environmental quality, problems of visibility and human health is the cause of unusual scales of developments connected with studies of atmospheric aerosols. The necessity has arisen to analyze the latest results concerning, first of all, three aspects of the problems considered: 1. aerosol properties from data of complex field observational experiment; 2. processes of aerosol formation and interaction of aerosol with clouds, 3. aerosol as a climate-forming atmospheric component (including the problem of long-range transport). The monograph in hand is dedicated mainly to the problems of the impact of aerosol on climate processes in the atmosphere, from microphysical processes of formation and evolution of aerosol properties to the formation of macro-scale cloud systems on aerosol particles.

9.   The land question in India :  State, Dispossession, and Capitalist Transition

the land question in india

Pengarang  :  Anthony P. D’Costa

Imprint  : Oxford : Oxford University Press , 2017

Muka surat :  183 ms

Sinopsis :

This volume takes a fresh look at the land question in India. Instead of re-engaging in the rich transition debate in which the transformation of agriculture is seen as a necessary historical step to usher in dynamic capitalist (or socialist) development, this collection critically examines the centrality of land in contemporary development discourse in India. Consequently, the focus is on the role of the state in pushing a process of dispossession of peasants through direct expropriation for developmental purposes such as acquisition of land by (local) states for infrastructure development and to support accumulation strategies of private business through industrialization.

Land in India is sought for non-agricultural purposes such as purchasing land to reduce risk and real estate development. Land is also central to tribal communities (adivasis), whose livelihoods depend on it and on a moral economy that is independent of any price-driven markets. Adivasis tend to hold on to such property, not as individual owners for profit, but for collective security and to protect a way of life. Thus land, notwithstanding its role in the accumulation process, has been, and continues to be, a turbulent arena in which classes, castes, and communities are in conflict with each other, with the state, and with capital, jockeying to determine the terms and conditions of land transactions or their prevention, through both market and non-market mechanisms. The volume goes beyond the traditional political economy of the agrarian transition question, and deals with, inter alia, distributional conflicts arising from acquisition of land by the state for capital accumulation on the one hand and its commodification on the other. It provides new analytical insights into the land acquisition processes, their legal-institutional and ethical implications, and the multifaceted regional diversity of acquisition experiences in India.

10. Work Stress and coping forces of change and challenges

work stress and coping forces

Pengarang : Philip J. Dewe

Imprint : London :  Sage ,  2017

Muka surat :  259 ms

Sinopsis :

In Work Stress and Coping the authors provide an historical account of workplace stress, taking a broad approach by integrating the macro forces impacting the micro, and highlighting what the research in the field tells us about the changing nature of work so that individuals and organizations can create more livable working environments.

With an emphasis on the growing influence of globalization, the book explores the forces of change within contemporary societies and assesses how they have fundamentally changed the nature of work and the direction of research into stress and coping.

Capturing the history, context, critique and transformation of theory into practice, the authors offer an insight into how managers and businesses have failed, the effects this has had on how work is experienced, the evolution and relevance of existing theories and suggest alternative methods and future directions.

Suitable reading for students of HRM, Organisational Behavior and Occupational Psychology.
